Moto X Play Style

Gizmo brand, Lenovo’s subsidiary, Motorola is planning to re-launch its Moto ‘X’ brand in the name of Moto ‘Z’. This change comes after three years of selling the flagship handsets under the brand name of Moto X, and will be effective from the launch of the new models this year. In a layman’s language it just means that Lenovo’s Motorola is launching its Moto X brand as Moto Y in the market, which is quite uncommon for the manufacturers.

Under this line, two models, codenamed as Vertex and Vector Thin, they will be officially launched in the name of Moto Z Play and Moto Z Style respectively. Similarly, in the Unites States, Motorola Droid Maxx and Droid Turbo phones will be replaced by Moto Z Style Droid Edition.

This has been previously done by HTC and Sony, when its renamed its HTC one X brand to HTC 10, after using if for four years, from 2012-2016. Sony changed its Xperia Z to Xperia X series phones.

Currently, Motorola covers just 5% of the smart-phone market, and it is expected that the change in the name will bring appositive change for both the customers and manufacturers. Meanwhile, Lenovo is going to organize Lenovo Tech world show in San Francisco on 9th June, 2016. More surprises are on the way!
