Telecom giant Bharti Airtel has silently withdrawn the Rs. 20 referral talk-time offer from its self-care app ‘My Airtel.’ Initially, an Airtel user could refer the self care app to three friends in a month, on which he got a value of Rs 20 talk-time on each successful referral, amounting to Rs. 60 at the end of the month. However, the referral offer came with many conditions, like – 1) the one to which the My Airtel app has been referred to should have never installed the same before; 2) the new installation should be on a new phone among many others. Nevertheless, the offer benefitted customers to add talk-time to their main accounts. The referral offer was initially introduced to promote the ‘My Airtel’ app.
The withdrawal was done silently, without any prior notification by the company officials. It was noticed last month that Airtel has replaced the Rs. 20 referral talk-time with 200 MB of 2G night data packs, valid only on successful referrals. Though the My Airtel App still shows the old referral offer stating free talk-time of Rs 20 on each referral, the Airtel numbers in the West Bengal and Kerela circles could not access the offer. Airtel has not confirmed about the exit of the offer yet.
Despite this, My Airtel App still remains the one of the most downloaded app on both Android and iOS.
