Idea Cellular, the third largest telecom operator of the country has introduced a new data pack in Himachal Pradesh. This super saver data pack will offer 1GB 3G data at only Rs 52 for a year with an annual payment of Rs. 1,498. Aditya Birla group owned Idea Cellular has launched this pack to offer low cost data rates to high value data customers, a move which was earlier used by the Bharti Airtel Group.

The state has around 8 lakh both prepaid and postpaid users, and it has launched two new packs priced at Rs. 1498 (for 12 months validity) and Rs. 798 (for 6 months validity) which offer 1 GB of data with 3G speed. The users of this region can recharge their number with Rs. 52 to get started with the benefits of the pack. ‘The data can only be used for 3G now, but after the 4G launch the customers can enjoy lowest rate for 4G data too without any additional cost’ said an Idea executive.

As Reliance backed Jio has announced free calls and data to grab customers from other rival networks, introduction of MNP has quite become a heat of the game. Idea Cellular’s move to offer data benefit at such low rates is clearly a move by the company to bind its users with it for a long span.

Presently, Idea Cellular is 1GB 3G data pack is priced at Rs. 250; but with the new pack of Rs. 1498, Idea users can save up to 70% of the data cost as compared the earlier one. The details of the pack are listed below:

1.Rs. 1,498

  • Valid for 12 months
  • 1GB at Rs. 52, 2GB at Rs. 97, 5GB at Rs. 249

2.Rs. 748

  • Valid for 6 months
  • 1GB at Rs. 97
  • 2.5GB at Rs. 249

Please note that both pack comes with additional 1GB 3G Data, and the extra data pack to valid for 28 days post recharge.

However, it probably is not the best pack for customers who use 2-3GB a month; but for the customers who use around 10GB or more data in a month can be benefitted much. For an amount of Rs. 500, a user can around 10GB, which otherwise would have cost around Rs. 1200. Similarly, 40GB of data can be used only at Rs. 2000, which is around a 70% sharp discount from the earlier offerings. Currently, the pack is only available in the Himachal Pradesh circle, but it is expected that it will be launched in other circles as well.
